Friends turn passion for parties into new event rental business

BLACKFOOT — A shared passion for hosting parties has grown into an exciting new business venture for Quinn Lindsay and Mandy Anderson. Recognizing a need in east Idaho’s event scene, the duo launched Backdrops & Banquets Rental — a company specializing in rental tables, chairs, and stylish backdrops — perfect for weddings, banquets, and large gatherings.
“We love to host parties,” Lindsay said. “Last summer, after throwing a friend’s backyard wedding and having so much fun, I looked at Mandy and said, ‘Hey, what do you think about starting a business?’ From there, the ideas just started flowing.”
By November, the Blackfoot-based entrepreneurs had a business plan in place and a goal to launch Backdrops & Banquets Rentals by spring.
They spent months researching the latest trends in event décor, investing in high-quality tables and comfortable chairs, and curating a collection of versatile backdrops. Today, they’re equipped to serve 50 to 300 guests, offering function and flair for every occasion.
They got a head start by purchasing several backdrops from another businesswoman who was closing her rental company. With the help of Anderson’s father, they’ve customized and expanded their collection — building unique pieces like a hexagon arch, a black metal arch, and a classic square metal arch with interchangeable lace. They’re currently working on a new design featuring mountain peaks inspired by Idaho’s scenic beauty.
“We’re figuring out what people want and staying on top of the trends,” Anderson said. “We’re keeping things simple but elegant — nothing too over the top.”
“We provide the backbone of an event — the tables, chairs, and backdrops,” added Lindsay. “Finding those key pieces that let people gather, sit, and enjoy each other’s company can feel overwhelming. Our job is to take that stress off their shoulders and create a space where connection can happen. We love it when people come together.”
Although both Lindsay and Anderson lead full lives with families and other jobs, they decided to take the leap and pursue their dream.
“We decided to jump into it,” Lindsay said. “The best way to predict the future is to create it.”
Looking ahead, the duo hopes to expand their offerings to include tents and decorative lighting — with the long-term goal of opening their own event venue.
One of their first events as a new business was a luncheon for Spudnik in Blackfoot. “We’re new at this, but we find it fun and rewarding,” said Anderson.
With the busy season of graduations, weddings, and family reunions on the horizon, Backdrops & Banquets Rentals is ready to serve events within a 60-mile radius of Blackfoot.
“We love it when people gather, and we’re excited to serve the east Idaho community,” they said. “We’ll be updating our Facebook page with all of our rentals over the next few days. We are so excited for this new adventure and have lots of fun ideas for the future.”
