OGDEN, Utah (KSL.com) — A security guard at a nightclub in Ogden who allegedly left a man lying in the road after beating him up has been arrested after the man was later run over by a vehicle and killed.
Martin Esparza Espinoza, 56, was booked into the Weber County Jail on Saturday for investigation of manslaughter.
The incident happened on Feb. 23. Espinoza had been working as a security guard at an undisclosed nightclub in the 3500 block of Washington Boulevard.
Espinoza and two other security guards got into a confrontation with a man who allegedly would not pay for tacos. Espinoza fought with the victim “with the result being the male was left lying in the middle lane of Washington Boulevard,” according to a police booking affidavi.
The security guards then left the man lying in the road, police say.
“Less than one minute later, a car pulls out of a parking lot and, while turning left, runs over the male lying in the middle lane of Washington Boulevard (and he) later died of the massive injuries that were inflicted,” the affidavit states.
The name of the victim has not yet been released.
