A TOUCHING MOMENT — An Oklahoma man has touched the hearts of countless people after a video was shared online of him playing his bagpipes in front of where his home once stood.

Scott McKinley posted the video of him playing “Amazing Grace” on his Facebook page on the morning of March 15, 2025. His family’s home in Stillwater, Oklahoma, was destroyed by wildfires. The first time his family returned to see what was left of their home, McKinley began playing the popular song.

The video, which has over half a million views on his Facebook page alone, shows McKinley in shorts and a t-shirt with his bagpipes in hand. In the background, footage shows his home completely destroyed. Some flames can be seen in the back while everything else appears to be smoldering from the fire.

“I only have one item left in my possession, my pipes,” McKinley wrote on the Facebook post featuring the video. “I usually play them to comfort others in times of grief, but today I’m playing for my family. Music is in my soul, and that’s something a fire can’t touch.”

McKinley spoke with 2 News Oklahoma and said, “It doesn’t have to be a tragedy if you don’t allow it. You know. And I think that’s, I just feel like that. You know, this isn’t going to beat us, and I think that’s the way all Oklahomans feel about this. Being Oklahomans, we’re going to fight through it. That’s just, that’s the way we do things.”

Reports say his wife, children and dogs all escaped. A GoFundMe was started for the McKinley family. To donate, click here.
