Century’s Evans records 500th strikeout, but Highland comes away with 2-0 win

POCATELLO — The Century Diamondbacks had reason to celebrate Tuesday, as pitcher Ally Evans recorded the 500th strikeout of her varsity softball career. In the end though, it was the Highland Rams who came away with the victory.
Highland improved to 10-4 on the season — 1-1 in conference play — with the 2-0 win at Century. With two weeks remaining in the regular season, the Rams trail the Rigby Trojans (5-4, 2-0) for the top spot in the 6A High Country Conference.
The Rams and Trojans have four remaining head-to-head games, including the final two games of the season, a May 2 doubleheader at Rigby High School.
Century dropped below .500 — 8-9 — and have yet to face lone conference opponent, Pocatello. The 5A South East Idaho Conference will be decided when the Thunder and Diamondbacks play their lone series, a three-get set, to close the season — on April 29 and 30.
