Teton Pass crash sends juvenile to hospital with serious injuries

JACKSON, Wyo. — A crash involving a motorhome and a passenger vehicle closed the Teton Pass on Monday night and seriously injured a juvenile.
According to a news release from the Wyoming Department of Transportation, around 9 p.m. on Monday, the Wyoming Highway Patrol was called for a crash near Trail Creek Road on Wyoming Highway 22.
Initial reports stated that there was a large crash involving five vehicles, one of them being a commercial tanker that had caused a “gas spill requiring a hazmat event,” but this turned out to be false.
According to the release, when troopers arrived, they found two vehicles involved in the crash: a motorhome and an RV towing a trailer.
Troopers say there was a small gas spill that did not require a hazmat event, and a juvenile occupant of the motorhome was airlifted with serious injuries.
According to the Jackson Hole News & Guide, Jackson Hole Fire/EMS Battalion Chief Brian Coe said crews were treating eight patients involved in the crash.
As of 10 p.m., there were no fatalities, he said.
Teton Pass was closed until around 3:30 a.m, according to the Wyoming Department of Transportation.
