The U.S. embassy says that its employee had traveled to Liberia, but during that trip had at no time come in contact with any Ebola patients. Further, the embassy says its staffer returned to the U.S. and was examined by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta before returning to the post in Nicaragua.

The embassy also said in a statement that the employee has shown no symptoms associated with Ebola.

BBC News reports that the Nicaraguan government has requested the U.S. send a plane and equipment necessary to take the individual back to the United States.
