PODCAST: Michael Lehto won’t run again for Idaho Falls City Council

IDAHO FALLS — Idaho Falls City Council President Michael Lehto announced Friday he will not seek another term on the City Council.
He made the announcement during a EastIdahoNews Political Podcast (#PoliticalPodcast) with Mark Richardson.
Lehto is finishing his fourth term on the council, and has served this past term as the council president. Lehto told Richardson he has enjoyed his time on the council, but thinks new ideas and new a perspective on city government could be a positive thing for the community.
Lehto felt he had used his business background to help establish capital plans and directions for the city, something he believed the city needed to strengthen.
As to his future, Lehto said the field is open. Already some non-profit organizations are seeking his help, and the possibility of another elected position is something he said he could consider.
