Police: Local father took teen daughter out of state to marry man who impregnated her

ASHTON — A Fremont County father is accused of taking his 14-year-old daughter to another state so she could marry the 24-year-old man who had allegedly impregnated her.
In a criminal complaint filed in Fremont County court, the 24-year-old, Arron Seaton of Ashton, is charged with raping the girl around June 17.
Court documents show two months later, around Aug. 15, the teenage girl’s father, Keith Strawn, took her across state lines to marry Seaton.
Local law enforcement tells EastIdahoNews.com they went to Missouri. When they returned to Idaho, court documents allege Strawn allowed his daughter to cohabitate with Seaton.
Strawn is facing two felony injury to a child charges and one felony charge of accessory to rape. Court records show he allegedly “harbored and protected” Seaton by allowing him to live with his teenage daughter.
Court documents say the girl had a miscarriage in October. She is still legally married to Seaton, but papers have been filed in 7th District Court to annul the marriage.
Strawn and Seaton were both charged in September. Strawn was released from jail on his own recognizance on Sept. 30. Seaton was released from jail on $50,000 bond on Oct. 5.
EastIdahoNews.com contacted Strawn by phone on Monday. He agreed to an on-camera interview, but later said his attorney didn’t want him to speak about the case.
Idaho law allows 16- and 17-year-old teenagers to marry with parental permission. Children under 16 may get married with parental permission and permission from a judge.
Strawn and Seaton are both scheduled for separate jury trials early next year.
