Trial delayed for father accused of allowing underage daughter to marry adult

ST. ANTHONY — The trial has been delayed for a Fremont County man accused of taking his then-14-year-old daughter out of state to marry a 24-year-old man.
Keith Strawn is facing two charges of felony injury to a child and one charge of accessory to rape. He was scheduled to be tried March 24 and 25, but the trial is being delayed based on the sentencing of Arron Seaton.
Court records show Strawn allegedly “harbored and protected” Seaton by willingly allowing the man to live with his teenage daughter.
Seaton was 24 when the rape occurred in June 2015. Two months later, Strawn is accused of taking Seaton and his daughter to be married in Missouri.
Idaho law states 16-and 17-year-old teenagers may marry with parental permission. Children who are under 16 may get married with parental permission, as well as consent from a judge.
Strawn’s daughter became pregnant as a result of the rape, then miscarried in October 2015.
Seaton’s sentencing was supposed to happen today, but the court rescheduled because of an incomplete psycho-sexual evaluation. Seaton will now be sentenced Apr. 12.
Strawn’s pretrial conference will be held April 15. A jury trial for Strawn is scheduled to begin May 4 to 6.
Strawn waived his right to a speedy trial in order to be tried after Seaton’s sentencing.
