Kelly Canyon Ski Resort closes for the season
Published at | Updated atKELLY CANYON — It’s not often that a ski resort in eastern Idaho closes in February due to a lack of snow but that’s exactly what has happened.
Kelly Canyon Ski Resort announced early Monday morning that they are officially closed this winter.
“Due to a lack of snow and deteriorating conditions, we are closed for the season. We look forward to the 2018-2019 season and hope for better weather conditions,” says a recording on the resort’s phone line.
Kelly Canyon received only 22 inches of snow in January compared to 45 inches in Jan. 2017. The snow that has fallen is melting rapidly because of warmer weather conditions.
Quadkards, gift cards or vouchers purchased this year will be honored next season, according to the Kelly Facebook page.
