WATCH: EastIdahoNews.com visits Planet Doom
Published at | Updated atIDAHO FALLS — An east Idaho location is still scaring for DARE in a popular eerie location, but under a different name and ownership.
This Halloween season locals are visiting a new haunted attraction called Planet Doom. The building on First Street held Dr. Slaughter’s House of Terror for 18 years.
When the old Dr. Slaughters closed in April, brothers Brent and Brian Wilson began renovations for Planet Doom.
Over the summer, the 32,000-square-foot building was transformed with modern effects and dynamic lighting for an enhanced fright.
Just as Dr. Slaughter’s funded the DARE program, run by the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office, Planet Doom will do the same.

“Over the years with Dr. Slaughter’s … that’s been our main funding source. Darrell Wagner and his crew that used to run it did a fantastic job,” Bonneville County Sheriff spokesman Bryan Lovell told EastIdahoNews.com in August.
Lovell admits the department didn’t know how they were going to continue to raise necessary funds until the Wilsons stepped in.
“They’re really motivated and enthusiastic about this project. We want the DARE program to continue and fully support Wilsons’ efforts to keep it going.”
Deputy B. Miller with the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office says the funds go toward teaching material for the youth.
“We buy workbooks with the money from the haunted house, T-shirts, other incentive items to encoring the kids through the DARE program,” Deputy B. Miller says.
The EastIdahoNews.com crew recently spent an evening at the Planet Doom in Idaho Falls, watch the video above to see our screams and scares.
