These east Idaho haunted attractions are guaranteed to scare

If Halloween for you is more about spooks and scares than tricks and treats, one of these haunted locations in east Idaho is sure to put you in the frightening mood.
The Haunted Mill in Teton
TETON — The Haunted Mill in Teton was built in 1890 and began as a gristmill, grinding grain and producing flour. In 1906 it transitioned into a culinary water supply, and an electrical facility. Over the years, other types of industry were added until the Teton Dam broke in 1976, damaging the mill. The mill was purchased again in 1984 as a hydroelectric power plant but was then closed down in 1994. It became open to the public in 1997 as an indoor and outdoor haunted attraction. Visitors get access to two buildings while going through the haunted historical site — the mill and the old log granary, as well as an underground mine and a suspension bridge.
HOURS: Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. to midnight
Starting on Oct. 22 thru Oct. 31, Monday thru Thursday, from 7:30 to 10 p.m.
Closed on Sunday

Planet Doom
IDAHO FALLS — Taking the place of Dr. Slaughter’s House of Terror, Planet Doom still scares for D.A.R.E. This is its first year open as a haunted attraction on First Street in Idaho Falls, and it’s also Idaho’s largest all-indoor haunted attraction. Be prepared for 32,000 square feet of absolute horror.
HOURS: Thursday from 7 to 10 p.m., Friday thru Saturday from 7 to 10 p.m.

Lost Souls Attractions
SHELLEY — The Lost Souls Attractions hosts two haunted locations in Shelley. The hauntings take place in the local Virginia Theatre and a hospital nearby. Both buildings were constructed in the early 1900s. The theater has a lot of its original features, such as the old stage and molding, the lightbox room, and old coal furnaces under the stage. The building that acted as a hospital ran from 1920 to 1926. It’s occupied various businesses over the years. The hospital has an old dumbwaiter (elevator), an old hospital ward with a hallway full of rooms and floral wallpaper.
HOURS: Friday and Saturday: 7 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.
Starting Oct. 22, Monday thru Thursday: 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., except Nov. 1
Halloween: 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Nov. 2 and 3 at 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.

The Straw Maze (haunted on weekends)
REXBURG — The Straw Maze has been a popular attraction in the Upper Valley since 2007. This year’s theme is “The Greatest Show in Town.” The Straw Maze is built with over 1,000 straw bales and has towering walls. It can keep visitors from cutting corners and cheating their way through the maze. According to its website, it’s “more challenging than corn mazes and scarier than a haunted house.”
HOURS: (Non-haunted)Monday thru Thursday: 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Fridays: 5 p.m. to 12 a.m. Saturdays: 12 p.m. to 12 a.m. (Haunted) Weekends in October: 7 p.m.to 12 a.m. Oct. 29 thru Oct. 31: 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

The Haunted Forest
REXBURG — Hosted by the same owners as the Straw Maze, the Haunted Forest is located close by. It’s a dark haunted trail through Rexburg’s backwoods with monsters and ghouls lurking nearby.
HOURS: Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. (dark) until midnight

Country Trails Corn Maze (haunted on the weekends)
REXBURG — Country Trails Corn Maze south of Rexburg is now in its third year of operation. It offers family-friendly activities like a 60-foot slide, a corn pit, kids mazes and tractor rides. On weekends, you can come for a good scare while the corn maze is haunted. It also has a “Warming Hut” when customers get chilly.
HOURS: Monday thru Thursday 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. for non-haunted fun.
Friday and Saturday through Oct. 27 (Haunted): Dark until midnight.

Zombie Rampage
IDAHO FALLS — Hunt for real, well…mostly real zombies at the Zombie Rampage at Sandy Downs. Actors dressed as zombies threaten to eat brains while being hit by paintballs. Participants are seated at paintball stations and shoot out windows in a 14-foot tall monster truck style bus.
HOURS: Friday and Saturday from 6 to 11 p.m.

10th Annual Haunted History Walking Tour
POCATELLO –This is the 10th Annual Haunted History Walking Tour in Old Town Pocatello presented by SPIRO Paranormal. SPIRO (Scientific Paranormal Investigative Research Organization) researchers study the mysterious and metaphysical. They’ll take you on a four-building tour through Old Town Pocatello. Participants will be able to go inside the buildings, learn of the history, and be a part of the haunted activity taking place. Guests need to purchase tickets beforehand and can do so online.
HOURS: 2018 Tour Dates: October 13, 19, 20, 26 and 27
Friday night tours begin at 7 p.m.
Saturday night tours begin at 6 p.m.
