6-year-old boy dies in above-ground pool

REXBURG — A 6-year-old boy drowned in an above-ground pool at a home in the Thornton area Tuesday.

The Madison County Sheriff’s Office reports at around 8:30 p.m. dispatch received a 911 call about a juvenile who had been found unconscious in a pool.

Office spokesman Sgt. Isaac Payne estimates the boy had been in the pool for about 20 minutes before he was found.

Emergency crews transported the boy to Madison Memorial Hospital and he was pronounced dead at approximately 10 p.m.

As he is a juvenile, the boy’s identity has not been released.

This is the latest in a series of bodies that have been pulled out of water in eastern Idaho recently.

On Aug. 13, the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office recovered a man’s body from the Snake River. His identity has not been released.

On Aug. 12, the Power County Sheriff’s Office recovered the body of Bradley Miller of Pocatello, from the American Falls Reservoir.

On Aug. 10, the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office recovered the body of Dallon Hill of St. Anthony, from the Henrys Fork of the Snake River.

On Aug. 5, the Bingham County Sheriff’s Office recovered the body of Johnny R. Johnson of Pocatello, from the Snake River.
