UPDATE: Train/truck collision near St. Anthony sends man to hospital

UPDATE 11 p.m.

One man is hospitalized after getting hit by an oncoming train south of St. Anthony on Thursday evening.

The collision occurred at 5:47 p.m. on East 400 North near 2300 East, according to a news release from Idaho State Police.

Steven Jenson, 25, of St. Anthony was driving westbound on East 400 North in a 1995 International semi-truck. A train was headed toward the intersection and for an unknown reason, he didn’t stop.

The train hit him on the passenger side and his truck burst into flames.

Witnesses pulled Jenson out of the vehicle before an air ambulance arrived. He was taken to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls. ISP did not release his condition.

The crash remains under investigation.

Fremont County Sheriff’s office, St. Anthony Police Department, Fremont County EMS and South Fremont Fire assisted ISP in responding to the crash.

ST. ANTHONY – At least one person has been injured after a truck got hit by a train and caught fire Thursday evening.

Fremont County Sheriff Len Humphries tells EastIdahoNews.com the collision occurred about 5:45 p.m. on a track on U.S. Highway 20 south of St. Anthony.

Humphries doesn’t know whether the injured person was male or female. An investigation is underway to determine exactly what happened.

A reporter at the scene of the crash says an air ambulance arrived a few minutes ago to transport the driver of the truck.

Multiple agencies are involved in the response, including Fremont County Sheriff’s Office, St. Anthony Police Department, Fremont County EMS and Idaho State Police.
