Investigation underway after missing woman is found dead on Jefferson County property

JEFFERSON COUNTY — Sheriff detectives are investigating a suspicious death after a woman’s body was found in a shed Thursday night.
The 43-year-old woman, whose name has not been released, was reported missing Wednesday. Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputies began investigating the case, according to Sheriff Steve Anderson. They visited a home on the 500 block of North 4200 East in the Labelle area of Jefferson County Thursday to follow up on the report.
“The female was known to frequent that location. Upon arrival, the homeowner consented to a search of his property,” Anderson said in a news release. “The female was located deceased in an outbuilding located on the property.”
Deputies are conducting interviews and an autopsy is scheduled for May 10. There have been no arrests or suspects named.
