RIGBY — The Idaho Falls Regional Bomb Squad is at a house in Jefferson County after some dynamite was found.

Idaho Falls Police Department spokeswoman Jessica Clements says the bomb squad was called out to the house on North 3500 East Road between County Line Road and East 300 North before 4 p.m. Thursday. Bomb squad members are currently investigating the material and determining the best way to remove and dispose of the explosive.

“The scene is controlled at this time and there is no threat to civilian life in the area at this time,” Clements said.

Despite there not being any threat to civilians, the bomb squad asks people to avoid the area if they do not live there and follow the instructions of law enforcement.

The bomb squad expects to be at the scene for several more hours into the evening. If the bomb squad decides the best option is to dispose of the dynamite on-site, those nearby may hear an explosion.

Local firefighters and paramedics are also on the scene as a precaution.
