Barbara Hutchings
October 28th, 1938 - September 16th, 2022
Barbara Mae Pemberton Hutchings, 83, of Idaho Falls, passed away unexpectedly September 16, 2022, at Promontory Point Rehabilitation.
Barbara was born October 28, 1938, in Weiser, Idaho, to Elmer A. Pemberton and Reva Arvesta Coulter Pemberton. She was the fifth of eight children. She grew up in Weiser, Riggins, and Bliss, Idaho. Her family moved to Idaho Falls and she graduated from Idaho Falls High School where she was a cheerleader and mascot.
On August 6, 1955, she married Paul Wayne Wright in Idaho Falls. They were later divorced. In 1970, she married Noel Prudent II. They were later divorced.
She worked at Arctic Circle while studying nursing with the nuns at Sacred Heart Hospital. She worked there as well. She later worked for the Idaho Falls Clinic.
On June 6, 1975, she married Ronald Willard Hutchings in Elko, Nevada. Barbara and Ronald made their home in Idaho Falls.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She enjoyed helping with girl’s camp serving as the nurse in case of injury or illness. She retired early in order to enjoy spending time at Palisades camping, fishing, boating, and bird watching.
Barbara is survived by her loving husband, Ronald Willard Hutchings of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Daryl (Guy) Meng of Ammon, ID; son, Kirk Wright of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Michelle Webster of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Christopher (Angie) Wright of Ammon, ID; step-son, Erik (Beth) Hutchings of Idaho Falls, ID; sister, Lula Speas of Idaho Falls, ID, sister, Dorine Welker of Idaho Falls, ID; brother, James Gray of Echo, OR; sister, Lois Dawson of Boise, ID; ten grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and three great great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ron’s parents, Donald & Othellda Hutchings, step-daughter, Kristi Hutchings, brothers, Bill Pemberton and Robert Pemberton, and sister, Tanis Walters.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 21, 2022, at the Lincoln 3rd Ward building, 2545 Mesa Street, with President Douglas Watson officiating. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 South Ammon Road, and Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Ammon Cemetery.
