Oliver “D.J.” David Jones

Oliver “D.J.” David Jones, joined his mother, leaving this Earthly plane in the early morning hours July 3, 2023. At the time, he was doing one of his most loved past-times, spending time with his family, camping in Kilgore, Idaho.

D.J. was born April 15, 1984, the first child of Wesley and Sherrie Lee Jones. From an early age he had a contagious smile and could melt the hearts of any adults that were in his presence. He was often the center of mischief but had no problem getting his way flashing that grin. In his youth he spent countless hours with his dad and Grandpa Lee working on the farm and learning about cows, tractors, and mechanics.

He attended school both elementary and high school in West Jefferson. He played on the high school football team and graduated with the class of 2002. After graduating he worked as the parts guy for Simmons Equipment in Terreton, putting his knowledge learned on Grandpa Lee’s farm to good use.

In 2006, he married Niccole Cheryl Kirschner in Idaho Falls. Into this union two children were born, Hannah Niccole and Rhett Wesley. D.J. and Niccole were later divorced. D.J. treasured the time he spent with his children and considered them the best part of his life. He loved watching them grow and the special moments they spent together. He truly was a family-oriented soul and known as the “favorite uncle” to his nieces and nephews.

D.J. had numerous hobbies, most of them included enjoying the great outdoors, fishing, hunting, and riding bikes. He and his dad had spent the summer enjoying time together, riding their Harleys on Idaho’s winding mountain roads.

At the time of his death, he was living in Idaho Falls working as a technician at Line-X spray-in-bed liners.

He is survived by his children, Hannah Niccole and Rhett Wesley Lundholm of Mud Lake, Idaho; father and bonus mom Wesley and Sherri Jones of Rigby, Idaho; Sisters: Lacey (Jacob) Lundholm of Mud Lake, Idaho; Summer Jones of Arco, Idaho; Camas Zollinger of St. Anthony, Idaho; Significant other Kylara Large and her 3 children Xaryn, Draegon, and Kaycen of Rigby, Idaho; grandmothers Mina Jones of Idaho Falls, Idaho; Carolyn Lee of Terreton, Idaho; Also nine nephews and nieces that thought the sun rose in Uncle D.J.

D.J. is preceded in death by his mother Sherrie Jones, and grandfathers David Jones and Larry Lee.

Memorial services for D.J. will be held on Friday, July 14, 2023, from 6:00 p.m.- 7:30 p.m. at Eckersell Funeral Home (101 W. Main St. Rigby, ID 83442). A graveside service will be held the following day, on Saturday, July 15, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the Grant Central Cemetery (154 N 3300 E Rigby, ID 83442).
