Wallace Marcus (Collins) Rees Jr., 70, of Idaho Falls, passed away on Monday, August 28, 2023, from cardiac arrest at his home in the loving arms of his wife. He was under the care of Aspen Hospice.

Wallace was born on December 1, 1952, and he was adopted at birth by his parents Wallace Marcus Rees Sr. and Helen Aikenhead Rees. His parents later adopted his younger biological brother and raised them in Redwood City, California. He graduated from Menlo Atherton High School in 1970. He later found 10 siblings and his birth name was Collins.

After graduation, he served on a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from 1971-1973 to the Gulf states (Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama). He then went on to further his education at Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho. He was an active member of the church throughout his entire life and enjoyed serving in the Cub Scouts while his own boys were young.

On December 19, 1975, he married his sweetheart, Christie James in the Idaho Falls Temple. To this union, 4 children were born.

He worked for Argonne National Lab which changed to INEEL (Battelle) for 35 years until retirement in security. Before going to work at Argonne he was a deputy sheriff with Bonneville County Sheriff’s Department for over 8 years. As a policeman, he loved target shooting and continued shooting throughout his life. He enjoyed camping, riding his RZR, and off-road 4-wheeling in his Dodge diesel truck. Above all his children and grandchildren were his greatest joy in life.

Wallace was a stellar husband, father, and grandfather. His family always came FIRST. He was a practical joker always trying to pull one over on his wife, which he did often. He loved garage sales, and then selling the items on eBay.

He is survived by his wife, Christie Rees; his daughter, Danielle Rees; son, Justin (Kathy) Rees; daughter, Whitney Rees; daughter-in-law, Mindy Rees; and 8 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son, Wyatt Rees, and his grandson, Tegan Rees.

The family will visit with friends and family from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday, August 31, 2023, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street, Idaho Falls. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.coltrinmortuary.com.
