Man killed in northern Idaho crash after slamming into log truck head-on

The following is a news release from Idaho State Police.

Idaho State Police is investigating a two-vehicle fatal collision that occurred just before 6:09 a.m. on Oct. 19 in Bonner County.

The crash occurred on State Highway 41 near mile post 20, just north of Spirit Lake.

A 39-year-old man from Coeur D’ Alene was driving a white 2016 Ford 150 pickup, northbound on State Highway 41, when he left the roadway and entered the northbound ditch, the vehicle then came back onto the roadway, went left of center and entered the southbound lane.

A 48-year-old man, from Chewelah, Washington, driving a 1987 Kenworth Log truck, was traveling southbound on State Highway 41.

The Ford F150 struck the Kenworth Log truck head-on. The driver of the F150 was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle.

The driver of the F150 was pronounced dead on-scene. The driver of the Kenworth did not sustain injuries. SH 41 was blocked for approximately 4 hours.

The crash remains under investigation by the Idaho State Police.
