Idaho governor signs agreement to extradite Lori Vallow Daybell to Arizona
Published at | Updated atPOCATELLO — Gov. Brad Little has signed an executive agreement to extradite Lori Vallow Daybell to Arizona on conspiracy to commit murder charges.
Little signed the three-page document Monday, which was sent to him by Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs on Sept. 13. Daybell faces two conspiracy to commit murder charges for the death of her fourth husband, Charles Vallow, and the attempt on the life of her former nephew-in-law Brandon Boudreaux.
Daybell has been incarcerated at the Pocatello Women’s Correctional Center since the beginning of August after Judge Steven Boyce sentenced her to life in prison for the murders of her children, Tylee Ryan and Joshua “JJ” Vallow. She was also found guilty of conspiring to commit the murder of Tammy Daybell, the former wife of Lori’s current husband, Chad Daybell.
“It is hereby agreed by the undersigned, the Governor of the State of Idaho and the Governor of the State of Arizona, that Lori Vallow … will be extradited pursuant to this agreement from the State of Idaho to the State of Arizona for trial,” the executive agreement says. “The State of Arizona may obtain custody of the said fugitive … and the said fugitive may be transferred back and forth between the State of Arizona and the State of Idaho.”
Arizona will pay to transport Daybell “with no further formal extradition proceedings,” according to the agreement.

As far as the details of Daybell being moved to Arizona, the Idaho Department of Correction does not release information about the movement of residents before the movement occurs. Daybell remained incarcerated in Pocatello as of Wednesday afternoon.
A grand jury in Arizona indicted Daybell in June 2021 after her brother, Alex Cox, shot and killed Vallow in his Chandler home. Cox died in December 2019 from what a medical examiner deemed to be natural causes.
A second grand jury indictment was filed in Feb. 2022 for conspiracy to commit the murder of Boudreaux. At the time, he was married to Melani Pawlowski, Daybell’s niece. Police say Cox shot at Boudreaux and tried to kill him.
Kay Woodcock, Vallow’s sister, said in a statement, “1567… The number of days keeps increasing as we fight for justice. FINALLY!!!! We are not sure when she will be moved but are thrilled with progress. Simply knowing it’s in motion, leaves us feeling relieved and happy.”
If found guilty of the conspiracy charges in Arizona, Daybell could face a life sentence. She also faces a life sentence in Idaho. It’s unclear if she would be moved back to Pocatello for the remainder of her life or if she would stay in Arizona.
Daybell remains incarcerated in Pocatello as of Wednesday afternoon. The Idaho Department of Correction does not release travel information about when inmates are moved between facilities.
Chad Daybell has been in the Fremont County Jail since being arrested in June 2020. His trial is scheduled to begin April 1 in Ada County. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
