Man accused of sexually abusing 6-year-old girl in 2021
Published at | Updated atIDAHO FALLS – A 36-year-old man was arrested on Monday after he allegedly sexually assaulted a 6-year-old multiple times.
William Clinton Brick was charged with one count of felony lewd conduct with a child under 16.
On Jan. 2, 2022, an Idaho Falls Police Officer was assigned to follow up on a case of potential child sexual abuse.
According to court documents, a woman reported on Jan. 2, 2022, that a man, identified as Brick, had sexually assaulted her 6-year-old daughter.
According to the woman, Brick had assaulted the girl “five to six times” between February and March 2021.
On Jan. 14, the woman brought her daughter to the Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Center in Idaho Falls for a forensic interview.
During the interview, the victim stated that while at a relative’s house, Brick would often abuse her as she tried to go to bed downstairs. She also said this happened multiple times, according to the police report.
On Jan. 26, officers went to a home in Idaho Falls to try to locate Brick. They were told by someone at the house that Brick had moved to Georgia.
The officer then realized the home was in Bonneville County and not in city limits, so the case was forwarded to the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office.
A warrant for Brick’s arrest was issued on May 19, 2023, and he was not arrested until Monday.
Circumstances behind the arrest are not yet available.
Brick was booked into the Bonneville County Jail with a bond of $50,000. A no-contact order was issued for the victim.
Brick is expected to appear for a preliminary hearing on Nov. 7. If convicted, he could face up to life in prison.
Though Brick has been charged with these crimes, it does not necessarily mean he committed them. Everyone is presumed innocent until they are proven guilty.
