MONTPELIER — Lillian Crockett is a senior at Bear Lake High School. She is a member of the volleyball, basketball and track teams.

Her favorite thing about playing sports — specifically team sports — is seeing the team grow together, going from a group of people often just meeting each other, to a cohesive unit with a singular goal.

Asked if she has any intention of pursuing sports beyond high school, Crockett responded, “Probably not.”

“It’s just been a hobby in high school,” she said.

While post-high school life is fast approaching, Crockett has not locked into any specific goals. She knows the immediate plan will consist of either an LDS mission or college.

If she chooses to serve a mission for her church, Crockett said she would love to go to Italy.

If she moves on to college classes, she plans on attending BYU-Idaho. But even then, Crockett is unsure what path that route holds — because she is not certain what she wants to study, or what career she would like to pursue.

What she does know is, she loves being outdoors and riding horses.

“I wouldn’t mind doing a job that’s, like physical — I like to be outside — but I haven’t pinpointed exactly what I want to do,” she said.

When she leaves her home of Montpelier, though, she does know she will miss her family, whom she sees on a weekly basis. Crockett explained that her father’s entire family makes its home in Montpelier, while her mother’s side of the family lives a short drive away, in Wyoming.

Crockett qualified for State in the long jump last track season, while also running in the sprint distances — 100 and 200 meters. She has not yet committed to competing in track as a senior, though; she may instead use that time palling around with friends and family.
