Marianne Binggeli Porter of Orem, Utah peacefully passed away in the early morning hours of November 10, 2023 holding her husband’s hand and with her eight children surrounding her bed. She was born in Muri, Aargau, Switzerland on August 21, 1941 to Emil and Hanna Binggeli. Marianne’s quiet, simple yet powerful influence in this world will be missed.

Marianne was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved her Heavenly Father. She was grateful for and believed in the gift of a Savior who makes all things possible. This belief was at the very core of her being and it was her last expression on this earth.

Marianne married Richard Clyde Porter on May 14, 1965 in the Logan Utah Temple. Their union was guided by the Lord’s hand from the moment they met. They have devoted their lives to the Lord and their family. They are the parents to eight children; David (Lizette), Daniel (Teresa), Brian (Jana), Eric (Kodye), Heidi, Teresa, Jared (Melissa) and Micheal (Edna), and twenty grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren with more on the way.

Her greatest joy was her family and her world revolved around them. She taught them by example which was loud and clear and never wavering. She was a champion cheerleader on the sidelines of all that her children and grandchildren did.

She was talented in so many ways and she mastered them all. She loved to create and work with her hands. She was an accomplished seamstress. She loved to knit and crochet. In the last few years, she loved learning to quilt. She sewed costumes for BYU Ballroom Dance for close to 40yrs. When she wasn’t sewing costumes she was making wedding dresses and doing clothing alterations. She didn’t need patterns or recipes for anything that she made. Through her talents, Marianne built many strong relationships that she cherished.

She loved the mountains. She loved westerns and good country music. She loved football and basketball. She loved Primary and primary songs. She loved milk chocolate and a cold diet coke. She loved making sour dough bread and sharing it. She loved flowers, all of them.

Marianne is preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Hans-Rudolf, her in-laws, Clyde and Ada Porter, and two granddaughters, Whitney and Juno.

We will be honoring her life and legacy on Monday, November 20, 2023 at the Orchard Stake Center, 880 East 600 North, Orem, UT at 11am. A visitation and viewing will be held at the Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 646 East 800 North, Orem UT on Sunday, November 19 from 5-7pm and prior to the service on Monday from 9-10:30am at the Stake Center.
