Teton Toyota, Salvation Army offering groceries for families in need during Thanksgiving

IDAHO FALLS — Teton Toyota and The Salvation Army are teaming up to offer 100 free boxes of groceries for Idaho Falls-area families in need on Saturday.
“Many families are in a state of economic instability and an inability to fill their pantries with enough food to feed their families during the Thanksgiving break,” event organizers said in a news release.
According to Feeding America, a network of food banks, food pantries and community-based organizations, 156,640 Idahoans experienced food insecurity in 2021 – about 8% of the population. Of those, over 40,400 were children. In Bonneville County alone, almost 9,400 people experience food insecurity.
Pre-screened families who have a need can pick up food from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Teton Toyota, 2252 West Sunnyside Road in Idaho Falls.
“The generous staff (at Teton Toyota) will give them a food box with fixings for a traditional thanksgiving meal and a gift certificate for a turkey or ham,” Captain Steve Staneart of The Salvation Army told EastIdahoNews.com.
Each box will have enough food to feed a family of four, and will be carefully packed and assembled by Salvation Army staff, according to the news release.
