Pocatello man charged after allegedly threatening to kill a woman
Published atPOCATELLO — Police say a man threatened to shoot and kill a woman and himself. He has been charged with a felony.
Quinten Roy Dimick, 37, faces one felony count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, court records show.
Pocatello police responded to a home on Encino Street after receiving a call reporting a disturbance around 11 p.m. on Nov. 13, according to an affidavit of probable cause.
When officers arrived, a woman told them Dimick had threatened to kill her and himself. She said Dimick had a shotgun and a handgun. Dimick reportedly waved a gun while making the threat, so she ran into the home and then into a bathroom.
Dimick followed the woman and was banging on the bathroom door, the affidavit says.
Officers asked the woman if she believed Dimick would harm her. She said she felt Dimick intended to either shoot her or strike her with one of the guns.
A witness corroborated the victim’s story, according to the affidavit. The witness told police they saw both guns during the disturbance.
When officers asked Dimick what happened, he allegedly told them he and the woman were involved in a verbal altercation, adding that he never displayed a gun during the altercation.
Dimick was arrested and taken to Bannock County Jail, where he was booked. He was released on a $5,000 bond with a no-contact order two days later.
Though Dimick has been charged with this crime, it does not necessarily mean he committed it. Everyone is presumed innocent until they are proven guilty.
If he is found guilty, Dimick would face up to five years in prison.
He is scheduled to appear in court before Magistrate Judge Carol Tippi Jarman for a preliminary hearing on Nov. 27.
