Lita was born August 11th, 1931 at Craig, Colorado to Archie & Nellie Mock. She was the youngest of 4 children. She spent the early years on Blue Mountain having survived the Great Depression with her family. They needed to move to Fruita, Colorado because the one room school only went through 8th grade and the oldest daughter was ready for high school. Lita graduated from Fruita Union High School in 1949. Then attended 2 years at Mesa Junior College in Grand Junction, CO.

She married Dean Carpenter on December 14, 1951. Together they had six children. Nate, Ed, Harley, Kim, Scott & Shawna. They moved to Blackfoot, Idaho in 1955, eventually settling in Monteview, Idaho.

Lita had a passion for her children & family. She never forgot a birthday and made sure she sent a birthday card when due. She adored her kids & grandkids never missing an opportunity to brag about them. She was a fabulous cook and homemaker, always making homemade meals, canning & gardening. Her chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting was legendary among friends and family. She loved a good pinochle game, insisting her partners “Bid em up!” Being deaf she touched many lives in her community with her talent for lip reading and love for her Lord & Savior.

She was a member of the Community Church of Mud Lake serving as a Sunday School Teacher for many years. She was instrumental in getting the Mud Lake Senior Center built and she would volunteer for kitchen help, serving on the board of directors and writing up their monthly newsletter.

Lita’s steadfast faith in her lord Jesus Christ was inspirational to those who knew her.

She is survived by her children, Nate (Crystal), Ed (Chris), Harley (Marie), Kim, Scott (Barbara) & Shawna (Casey), 18 grandchildren, 55 great grandchildren, & 6 great grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters, one brother, two granddaughters, & one great granddaughter.
