Bruce Allan Scott, 74, passed away January 4, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Bruce was born November 28, 1949, in Monrovia, California, to Donald Ray Scott and Allie Eileen Hudspeth Scott. He grew up and attended schools in Temple City and the Mojave Desert and graduated from Temple City High School. Bruce served in the U.S. Marine Corps and is a veteran of the Vietnam War.

On July 16, 1977, he married Connie Jean Sommers in Rexburg and were later sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple. Bruce and Connie made their home in Ucon, Idaho. Bruce worked as a deputy sheriff for the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office for 29 years.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served as a High Priest group leader and as a teacher. Bruce loved to learn, teach, and serve. He was always reading, everything from gospel books to technical manuals. He was constantly involved in service. He belonged to the Civil Air Patrol where he flew missions to search for downed aircraft and lost people. He was a member of the Southeast Idaho Practical Shooters Club, a member of different HAM Radio check-ins, and continued to be a reserve police officer for Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office. He also started Scott Motor Escorts, where he provided safe travel for families from the funeral service to interment of their loved one. After retirement Bruce went to work for Aerohawk Aviation, a job that he thoroughly loved.

Bruce enjoyed family get togethers and loved his family dearly. He was a pilot, master scuba diver, and enjoyed gas operated model airplanes. He loved making wood and plastic pens on his lathe. He was good at woodworking and electronics and could fix cars and diesel transmissions, and anything else he was asked or needed to do. His wife, family, and friends always had needs and he was always happy to serve and he always helped with a smile.

Bruce is survived by his wife, Connie Jean Scott, of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Cindy Leigh (Marvin) Jorgensen of Fairbanks, AK; son, Shawn Allan Scott of Rexburg, ID; daughter, Melinda Lee Scott of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Rolf (Sally) Hansen of Lindon, UT; 15 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; also, Diana Reitan of WA, who is a very sweet lady Bruce called Mom.
