Emouree Johnson, a second-grader in Scottsboro, Alabama, lost her mom, Karli, in March. The family didn’t have money to buy a headstone so Johnson decided to sell lemonade to help pay for one.
Her heartwarming story has been shared on many media outlets across the world. Not only have viewers said she “has the heart of an angel” and “her heart is made of pure gold” but people were touched by the response her lemonade stand generated.
Video of the girl selling lemonade shows community members and first responders buying cups of lemonade. Dozens of people reportedly came out to offer their support.
“I didn’t know that by making a little lemonade (it) would bring this many people,” Johnson said.
Within the first week, Johnson had already raised nearly $10,000. Johnson’s grandma told WHNT News 19 her daughter’s headstone ended up being donated and the ongoing donations would help support Johnson’s future.
