Ronny Russ Hillman (73) was a resident of Hamer, Idaho for over thirty years passed away in his home on June 9th, 2024 of complications from cancer, which he battled for over twenty years.

Ron was born on October 5th, 1950 in Rigby, Idaho to Ralph L. Hillman and Barbara J. Jensen. He graduated from Sugar City High school in 1968. He had many fond memories from childhood on the family’s fifth-generation heritage farm in Kilgore, ID.

Ron married Annette Coleman on October 6th, 1977 in the Salt Lake City Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Ron spent his days as a farmer for most of his life. Regarding what he loved most about his work, he said that farming in Kilgore wasn’t work, it was a vacation.

Ron was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ throughout his life. His faith and sincere desire to please God led him to active participation in a variety of capacities, and encouraged others to do the same. Callings he held led him to serve in scouting programs extensively, and later in life as a temple worker in the Idaho Falls Temple, which he found to be profoundly fulfilling. Ron was a lifelong member of the Hamer chapter of the Lions Club and was key in planning and executing many community events and services including the Hamer 4th of July Celebration.

Ron had two daughters and four sons. He is survived by his wife, Annette, of Hamer, Idaho, son, Blake Hillman of Clinton, UT, daughter, Roxanne (Joe) Richmond of Eagle Mountain, UT, daughter, Tiffany (Jeremy) Shaffer of Hamer, ID, son, Chad (Melissa) Hillman of Hamer, ID, son, Rob (Katie) Hillman of Muscatine, IA, son, Shawn Hillman of Rexburg, ID, brother, Nick (Jackie) Hillman of Kilgore, ID, sister, Sherry (Lyle) Powell Plano, ID, and thirteen grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Randy Hillman.

Services will be held on Friday, June 14, 2024 at 11am at the Hamer chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (2454 East 2100 North, Hamer, ID 83425). Family will meet with friends on Thursday, June 13th from 6pm to 7:30pm and again prior to services from 9:30am to 10:45am at the church. Interment will be at Fielding Memorial cemetery in Idaho Falls, ID.

The Family of Ron, thank all the many healthcare professionals who helped care for him through the years.
