Obituary
David Justin
April 9th, 1948 - June 14th, 2024
Dave Justin passed away Friday, June 14, 2024, after he fought a long and hard daily battle with pain from Rheumatoid arthritis and a stroke or two. For years his family and friends called him The Energizer Bunny as he always seemed to rally back from every physical obstacle that was thrown at him. However, Friday he was finally able to let go of his pain and reunite with his parents, 4 siblings and his favorite horse, Beau.
April 9th, 1948 in Idaho Falls, Idaho Rhea, (Cyrstal) and Alfred Justin welcomed Dave into their family. Dave attended Holy Rosary Catholic School until he transitioned into the public school system in Idaho Falls, Idaho. He graduated from IFS in 1966; soon after meeting and marrying Elaine Rader, they brought into this world 4 amazing children. Their marriage lasted 20 years leaving their family and friends with great memories. Dave then was able to find his High School sweetheart, Glenda Thomas and talk her into a lifetime of loving adventures. Now a blended family of 8 kids, 26 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren with 2 on the way.
At a young age Dave began working with his dad in the agricultural world and then moved on to a profession in the Nuclear business until a sudden onset of arthritis forced him into an early retirement.
As young as he could remember his heart belonged to the outdoors, especially spending as much time as possible on his family-owned property in Island Park, Idaho. The Buffalo River, years of Island Park Rodeos and hunting trips on his favorite horse were always his favorite go to experiences. Dave and his stories will be missed.
Dave is survived by his loving wife Glenda, his only living sibling, Shaun Justin and 8 kids. He would often remind his wife, “We don’t have steps we just have family”, so here are the names of his blended family of 8: Monique Amethyst, New York, Tory Justin (Paula), Idaho Falls, Darbee Justin, Florida, Andrea Jenkins, (Jeremy), Boise, Idaho, Christi Teske, (Kirk), Ashton, Idaho, Curt Mathews, Star Ranch, Texas, Cathy Sainsbury (Rodney), West Yellowstone and Mexico, Carol Potter, (Chris) Idaho Falls, Idaho. This blended family is also made up of 26 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren and as far as he knew, 2 more on the way. Also, I have to mention his beloved dogs, Aly and Cooper, they were often by his side, especially these last few days.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Rhea and Al Justin, 2 brothers, Laird and Tim Justin, 2 sisters, Laurie Davis and Annette Loosli and his sister-in-law, Shaun’s wife Cathy Justin.
A special thank you to Nicole Wells, RN of Symbii Hospice for your knowledge, continued support and kindness. You went above and beyond each and every visit.
On Sunday July 28th, 2024 we will be hosting an Open House celebration of Dave’s life at the home of Glenda and Dave Justin from 2pm to 6pm. We are located in Ririe, Idaho, 426 1st East.
