Merlin Joseph Larsen, Jr., 95, of Ammon, Idaho, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 20, 2024, at his home surrounded by loved ones.

He was born on March 4th, 1929, in the house that his grandfather built in Glendale, Idaho. His parents were Merlin Joseph Larsen and Roah Mary Patterson.

He grew up and attended schools in Preston, Idaho, and graduated from Preston High School in 1946.

Merlin married Coy Forsgren on January 7, 1948, in the Logan, Utah Temple. To this union, four children were born: Leon, Klint, Teresa, and Diane. After Coy’s passing, Merlin married Peggy Annette Lake in Pocatello, Idaho, on June 24, 2006.

Merlin was a dedicated and faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He held many church callings ranging from Young Men’s President to Bishop to High Councilman and Executive Secretary.

Merlin is survived by his wife, Peggy of Ammon, Idaho; son, Leon (Pam) Larsen of Mesa, Arizona; son, Klint (Linda) Larsen of Colorado Springs, Colorado; daughter, Diane (Russ) Taylor of Caldwell, Idaho; stepchildren, Kimberlie (Kelly) Ray of Pocatello, Idaho, Melanie (Bruce) Foster of Twin Falls, Idaho, Rachelle (Chad) Jolley of Meridian, Idaho, and Travis (Nema) Blanchard of Pocatello; brother Arlando Larsen of Preston, Idaho; 24 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren, plus many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Coy Larsen; daughter, Teresa Coronado; granddaughter, Lindsay Coronado; a step-great-daughter, Kiana Booth; and his brother, Arlo Larsen.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 South Ammon Road. The family will visit with friends on Friday from 6:30-8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 1:00-1:45 p.m. prior to services. Both visitations will be held at the funeral home.

The burial will be in the Ammon Cemetery.
