Busy Rexburg exit to close (again) next week
Published at | Updated atREXBURG — A popular exit in Rexburg will close starting Monday, Sept. 30.
U.S. Highway 20 exit 332, which is the University Boulevard exit, will close down for crews to finish paving and striping, the Idaho Transportation Department said in a news release.
“This closure was purposefully scheduled during Madison School District’s harvest break to least affect traffic,” the news release said.
According to the district’s calendar, the break is scheduled from Monday to Oct. 4.
Here are the detours:
- Exit 328 (Thornton)
- Exit 333 (Main Street)
- Exit 337 (North Rexburg)
Work is expected to take a few days and will be reopened as soon as it is completed.
Construction continues at exit 333, with one lane running in each direction.
For the past several months, Rexburg drivers have dealt with partial and total road closures on University and Main Street as crews installed new diverging diamond interchanges. The new roads are designed to “greatly improve the flow of traffic,” a previous news release from ITD said.
