Kent Lavell Schwendiman slipped from this life to the next on September 27, 2024, at his home in Ucon, Idaho, with his wife of 64 years by his side.

Kent was born on March 28, 1937, in Newdale, Idaho, to Anita Martineau Schwendiman and H. Lavell Schwendiman. He was a farm kid from the moment he made his entrance into the world as the fifth of six children, and was raised on the back of a horse.

On June 24, 1960, he married DeAnna Goodsell in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. From this union came six children. He worked several jobs as a young husband, but later was employed by the Federal Aviation Administration in the Idaho Falls airport. He retired from the FAA before he was ready to retire from working, so after the FAA, he went to work helping troubled kids at the 3B Juvenile Detention Center, a job he thoroughly enjoyed.

As a life-long member of the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served a mission in the Eastern States Mission and held a variety of church callings. He loved family get-togethers in his backyard and taking long drives in the mountains. In his later years, Kent and DeAnna spent their winters in St. George where they made many friends.

Kent is survived by his wife, DeAnna; six children and their spouses, Kelly (Annette) Schwendiman, Brad Schwendiman, Karen (Brad) Cordon, RaNae (Richard) Miller, Annette (Michael) Mangelson, and Jon Schwendiman; a brother, Terry (Veva) Schwendiman; 14 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; four older siblings and their spouses; and a granddaughter, Mandi.

As much as Kent will be missed here, there are beautiful reunions happening and Kent is probably in the middle of the fray, telling stories.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, October 4, 2024, at the Ucon Ward, 10854 N. 41 E. The family will visit with friends from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Ucon Cemetery.

Condolences may be sent to the family at www.woodfuneralhome.com.
