Man dies following crash near Idaho/Washington border

The following is a news release from Idaho State Police.

On Oct. 7, at approximately 2:59 p.m., the Idaho State Police and Coeur d’Alene Tribal Police responded to a single vehicle crash which occurred on SH58 near the Idaho/Washington border in Kootenai County.

A 37-year-old male from Deer Park, Washington, driving a red 2022 Kenworth, was traveling westbound SH58 approaching the Idaho/Washington border when the truck left the roadway and overturned in the ditch. The driver was extricated from the vehicle and transported to Kootenai Health by LifeFlight. The driver was pronounced deceased around the time of arrival at Kootenai Health.

The road was closed for approximately 5½ hours for emergency responders to process the scene before the road could be reopened in both directions. The driver was wearing his seatbelt.

Next of kin has been notified.

This crash remains under investigation by the Idaho State Police.
