David Edwin Jennings

David Edwin Jennings age 90, of Rigby, passed away peacefully on October 24, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones.

He was born August 7, 1934, outside of Idaho Falls growing up in the Clark Area. He worked with his dad on the family farm. He graduated from Rigby High School. During his senior year he met his beloved sweetheart Ila Hazel Young. After graduation he attended Ricks College for two years. They were then married in the Idaho Falls Temple August 25, 1954. They lived in St. Anthony and Rigby. David worked for Intermountain Gas Company and owned a dairy farm. He enjoyed farming, cutter racing, trail riding, family reunions, high school reunions, camping, and buggy rides. He loved spending time with his grandchildren. David retired in 1999.

He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in Bishoprics and any other calling he was called to.

He is survived by his wife Ila, son Gary (Mary), son Rick (Pat), daughter Brenda (Denys), son Mark (Janet), son Randy (Bonny), 21 grandchildren, 65 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren, and sisters Virginia (Gene) Jennings Jenson, Karen Jennings Smith.

David is preceded by his parents Edwin and Grace Simpson Jennings, brother Leland Jennings, and sisters Dorothy Jennings Layton, Joan Jennings Ireland, Marilyn Jennings Bundy and granddaughter Brandi Marie Jennings.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 2, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. The family will meet with friends Saturday morning from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. prior to the services at the Rudy Ward Church located at 198 N. 4300 E. Rigby, Idaho 83442. Interment will be in the Annis Little Butte Cemetery under the direction of Eckersell Funeral Home in Rigby.

He was a wonderful husband, brother, son, father grandfather and friend, and such a fun-loving spirit and will be deeply missed. As a family we are so grateful for Fairwinds Sandcreek assisted living and Enhabit Hospice for the loving care they gave to our husband, dad, and grandfather.
