He was about to start dialysis when we showed up with an incredible gift from a Secret Santa
Published atA local Secret Santa is giving $1 million to deserving people in eastern Idaho this holiday season and the East Idaho News elves are helping out.
Every day, from now until the end of the year, we’ll be posting a Secret Santa surprise and today, we’re visiting a man named Josh.
Josh was born with a congenital heart defect and was given only months to live. Miracle after miracle occurred and he just celebrated his 48th birthday. But, his life has been far from easy.
When he was 26, he received a heart transplant and a few years later battled leukemia. He has experienced many more health complications and he has died several times.
Josh has an incredibly positive outlook on life despite all he has been through and continues to face. Anyone who knows him is inspired by his courage, strength and resiliency in the face of challenges.
Josh is in kidney failure and on dialysis four days a week in his home. All of his siblings are currently being tested to see if any of them are a good match to donate a kidney to their brother.
Josh’s wife Beth is equally as inspirational and strong. She has loved and cared for him while raising their kids and a few years ago, she went back to school and became a registered nurse. She shares her compassion and love with many in eastern Idaho that have the chance to be cared for by her. They never lose faith or complain – just continue to work hard and make the best with what they have.
Secret Santa asked the East Idaho News elves to pay Josh a visit with an early Christmas gift. Check out the surprise in the video player above!
