Man charged with rape after allegedly having sex with young teenager
Published at | Updated atCHUBBUCK — A 21-year-old from Idaho Falls has been arrested after allegedly having sex with a 13-year-old girl.
Caden Allen Bradley is charged with two felonies for rape where the victim is under the age of 16 and the perpetrator is 18 years of age or older.
According to court documents, it happened on at least two different occasions — once in October and another on Friday, Nov. 15.
On Friday, after a routine patrol at Capell Park, Chubbuck Police Department officers found a vehicle parked with two people inside engaging in sexual activity, court documents said.
Police talked to the two individuals, who were identified as the girl and Bradley. The teenager reportedly told officers she and Bradley met on the social media app Snapchat and they had known each other for about two weeks.
Court records said Bradley reportedly asked the girl how old she was and she said she was 17; however, officers found out she was actually 13 years old. She told police she knew Bradley’s age.
Police looked through the girl’s phone and found several Snapchats between her and Bradley. There were multiple conversations about having sex along with naked photos.
Bradley told officers he was bored on Snapchat and sent some friend requests, including one to the victim, documents said.
Officers asked him if he knew how old the girl was, and he said she told him she was 17 and about to turn 18. He said that they had been talking since mid-October.
Bradley reportedly said the girl had told him she had had a rough night, so he drove over to talk to her. He said they met at Capell Park and were talking and that they had not quite made it to sex before officers contacted them, court documents said.
He told officers they have had sex before. An officer asked him if he had any naked photos of anyone underage on his phone and he said no.
An officer looked at his Snapchat conversation between him and the girl, and there were naked photos that had been saved, documents said. The officer also saw the conversation of them talking about having sex and having a baby together. Bradley said that he wanted to wait until she was 18 to have a baby, court documents said.
Through the conversations, officers said Bradley knew the girl was possibly 17 years old and that he was 21.
Bradley was arrested and given a $75,000 bond. He was issued a no-contact order between him and the victim. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing at the Bannock County courthouse on Nov. 27 at 1:30 p.m.
Each charge is punishable by up to one year to life in prison and/or a $50,000 fine.
Though Bradley has been charged with these crimes, it does not necessarily mean he committed them. Everyone is presumed innocent until they are proven guilty.
