Lara Meng
May 7th, 1968 - November 17th, 2024
Lara Sue White Meng, 56, of Idaho Falls, passed away November 17, 2024, at her home after a courageous two-year battle with cancer. She was under the care of her loving family and One Source Hospice.
Lara was born May 7, 1968, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Richard White and Ginny White. Early in Lara’s life, Ginny married James “Jim” Ten Eyck who quickly became and remained a significant part of her life. Lara was grateful to have two dads, both of whom she loved very much.
Lara had four siblings, brother Max Ten Eyck, sister Gina White, sister Shawnee Preston, and sister Sandy Jensen. She grew up and attended schools in Idaho Falls and graduated from Idaho Falls High School in 1986.
On August 12, 1988, she married Paul Meng in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Lara and Paul made their home in Idaho Falls, where they owned and operated Jim’s Trophy Room.
Lara’s sense of humor and warm personality endeared her to many members of the community she lived and worked in. Together, Lara and Paul had two sons, Jakob Meng and Jory Meng, both of Idaho Falls. As a family, they enjoyed spending time camping, fishing, and boating at ‘The Fort,’ a family cabin in Swan Valley, Idaho.
Lara loved the beach, flamingos, dinners at home with her boys, shopping, her (large) collection of house plants, her cat Kelsey, and her grand dog, Milo.
Lara is survived by her husband, Paul Meng of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Jakob Meng and his wife Marci of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Jory Meng of Idaho Falls, ID; mother, Ginny Ten Eyck of Idaho Falls, ID; sisters, Gina White and Shawnee Preston; brother, Max Ten Eyck, and mother-in-law, Deanne Meng.
She is preceded in death by her father, Richard White; stepfather, James Ten Eyck; sister, Sandy Jensen; and father-in-law, Brent Meng.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Lara’s name to the Snake River Animal Shelter.
A gathering for friends and family will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday, November 22, 2024, at The Brickyard Event Center, 1025 S. Ammon Road.
