On December 1, 2024, another shining star was added to the heavens. Our beloved Mother, Ada LaDawn Lott, passed from this mortal existence. She graced our mortal lives for 89 years leaving a legacy of love and compassion to all who knew her. She lived her life in harmony with the teachings of the gospel. Her tremendous and unquestionable faith allowed her to willingly pass from this life with the knowledge that her work here was done and better things awaited her. She taught us by example with her wonderfully gentle and Christlike ways. She will certainly be missed.

As LaDawn lived out her final few days her thoughts and subtle comments were centered around her family members on the other side of the veil. We are certain the veil was thinning and her time with us was coming to an end. She was surrounded by her loving family as she departed this life. Among the angels waiting for her on the other side, she was met with the open arms of her eternal companion, Ray, their son Bruce, her mother and father, sister, brothers, and grandchildren. We can only imagine the joy and sweetness she experienced as she was reunited with her family that she has missed for so long.

LaDawn was born August 2, 1935, to William Pleasant and Florence Sargent Taylor. She grew up on a farm in Coltman, Idaho. She attended grade school with three boys as she was the only girl. She rode her horse to school every day with her dog following close behind. Her horse and her dog were her best friends and their feelings were mutual. LaDawn went to high school in Ucon, Idaho, where she met her future husband, Ray Lott. Ray was a year older than LaDawn. They were married in the Idaho Falls Temple on June 5, 1953, shortly after her graduation from high school.

Their early life together was spent in Swan Valley, Idaho, where they farmed an isolated parcel of land on the forest side of the Snake River. When they weren’t farming, they were spending time in the forest on horseback, hunting, fishing, and enjoying one another’s company. This was their honeymoon. They eventually settled in Ucon, Idaho, where they farmed and ranched for many years.

Their first child was born on May 2, 1954. They named her Jann LaDawn. They enjoyed the new addition to their family so much they had another daughter on April 19, 1956. They named her Vickie Ann. No family farm would be complete without some boys, so they had Brent Taylor on July 7, 1957, and Bruce Ray on November 26, 1958. In roughly four years they had four children. They finally figured out what was causing all those children.

LaDawn’s love of the earth and farming came at an early age as she did her part working the family farm with her parents and siblings. Every family member had a hand in working the ground and producing a crop. They learned how to work hard and take pride in their land as a way of life. The farm life that she grew to love continued with her life with Ray and passed those same values on to their children.

LaDawn was dedicated in her service to the Lord. She was called and served in many church callings throughout her life. She especially enjoyed her years as Relief Society President in her ward. LaDawn and Ray served two back to back missions to the Arizona Tempe Mission and the Mesa LDS Temple Visitors Center. On May 21, 2002, the love of her life, Ray, passed away from Leukemia. LaDawn continued her life long service to the Lord as a temple worker in the Idaho Falls Temple.

She is survived by her children, Jann (Kent) Mower, Vickie Mower, and Brent (Michelle) Lott; 15 grandchildren; 44 great grandchildren; and four great great grandchildren.

LaDawn was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Hawkins Lott; son, Bruce Ray Lott; parents, William Pleasant and Florence Sargent Taylor; son-in-law, Scott (Vickie) Mower; brothers, Owen Taylor, Miles Taylor, Bud Taylor and Hal Taylor; sister, Beverly Burtenshaw; granddaughter, Kira Lott Bott; and two great grandsons, Traven Leishman and Jakob Johnson.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 7, 2024, at the Monument Ward, 10854 North 41 East Ucon, Idaho 83454. The family will visit with friends from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Burial will be in the Ucon Cemetery.
