A local Secret Santa is giving $1 million to deserving people in eastern Idaho this holiday season and the East Idaho News elves are helping out.

Every day from now until the end of the year, we’ll be posting a Secret Santa surprise, and today we are delivering a gift to a woman named Monica.

Monica’s husband, Luz, died on Oct. 10 at the age of 45, leaving her and her six children in deep sorrow.

Monica has worked to keep her children stable during this difficult time but has endured a very heavy burden, especially since the income she was making at a restaurant in American Falls was not enough to support the family.

Because of that, she applied for and recently started a job at Amy’s Kitchen in Pocatello.

Monica has always been a strong person and she is working hard to pay her mortgage and keep a roof over her children’s heads. Her oldest son had aspirations to continue his education but has now decided to work full-time to help his mother and siblings.

Her washer and dryer don’t work, so every week, she takes many loads of laundry to her sister’s home so her family can have clean clothes.

Secret Santa asked the East Idaho News elves to visit Monica and we delivered her gifts while she was working. Check out the video in the player above!
