Beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Richard Eugene Schwabedissen, 90, of Riverton, Utah, passed away at home on December 8, 2024. He passed away peacefully with family by his side.

Richard was born October 26, 1934, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Louis August Schwabedissen and Jessie Burbidge Schwabedissen. He grew up and attended schools in Idaho Falls and graduated from Idaho Falls High School. He served as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Air Force from 1953-1957.

On September 9, 1955, he married his high school sweetheart, Betty Lorine Young, in Idaho Falls. Richard and Betty made their home in Idaho Falls and raised four children. They moved to Utah in 1982. Richard worked as an Aircraft Mechanic for Red Baron Flying Service in Idaho Falls, ID; owned and operated Valley Aircraft Service in Blackfoot, ID in the late 1970s; and retired from Barken Air Charter in Salt Lake City, UT.

He was kind, honorable, and an amazing role model. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and all things “aircraft.” He had a great sense of humor and his sayings like “okie dokie “ and “fair to middlin’ “ will be dearly missed but forever in our hearts.

Richard is survived by his wife, Betty Schwabedissen of Riverton, UT; son, Douglas (Teddi) Schwabedissen of Kimberly, ID; daughter, Shawna (David) Harrison of Los Alamos, NM; son, Scott (Leslie) Schwabedissen of Rigby, ID; daughter, Teresa (Michael) Halloran of Draper, UT; 28 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Jessie Schwabedissen; brother, unnamed baby; brother, James Louis Schwabedissen; and great granddaughter, Julia Schwabedissen.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 21, 2024, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road.
