Twin Falls man in custody after police find ‘suspicious device’ in his vehicle
Published at | Updated atTWIN FALLS – A Twin Falls man was arrested over the weekend after authorities say he had a suspicious device in his vehicle.
It happened early Sunday morning near Heyburn Avenue and Blue Lakes Boulevard in Twin Falls, a news release from Idaho State Police reports.
Troopers pulled over a 23-year-old man — whose name was not specified — for speeding. He was driving a 2014 Audi A7.
Twin Falls Police Department helped with the traffic stop and officers discovered a “suspicious black tube” during a search of the car. The department’s bomb squad secured the area as a safety precaution.
“The Bomb Squad safely extracted the black tube from the vehicle. After a thorough vehicle search, no additional suspicious items were found,” the ISP news release says.
Police say the driver was a felon in possession of a firearm and booked him in the Twin Falls County Jail on probable cause.
The Bomb Squad is still investigating the “suspicious device” to determine what it is. Additional charges may be pending.
Meanwhile, ISP thanks TFPD and the Bomb Squad for their help.
