The following is a news release and photo from the city of Idaho Falls.

IDAHO FALLS – Traffic will temporarily be detoured between 5:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 20, as Idaho Falls invites the public to the Second Annual UTV Holiday Light Parade.

The parade begins at the Mountain America Center then makes its way along the Riverwalk to the Johns Hole Bridge before winding back to Snake River Landing. The parade map can be found here.

To ensure the safety of participants and spectators, several intersections will be temporarily closed. The closure times for each intersection will vary as the parade progresses, but all roads are expected to reopen by 8:30 p.m.

The following intersections and roadways will be impacted:

  • Broadway Street westbound closed at Memorial Drive
  • Broadway Street eastbound closed at River Parkway
  • Pancheri Drive eastbound closed at South Utah Avenue
  • Pancheri Drive westbound closed at South Capital Avenue
  • Snake River Parkway northbound closed at Pier View Drive
  • Snake River Parkway southbound closed at South Utah Avenue
  • Snake River Parkway will be flagged at Event Center Drive
  • Adjustment on eastbound lanes of Highway 20 over John’s Hole Bridge
  • Local traffic only on Broadway east of Utah Avenue

Detours will be in place, and electronic message boards will provide drivers with alternate route information. Anyone traveling within at least a mile of the parade route should expect to encounter congested traffic and pedestrians.

Drivers are asked to avoid the area if they are not attending the parade or a local business. Please use caution, follow posted signs, and be patient while navigating around the closures.
