Ruby Jagielski
July 18th, 1949 - December 17th, 2024
Ruby Jean Guymon Jagielski, 75, of Rexburg peacefully passed away Tuesday December 17, 2024, at Homestead Assisted Living in St. Anthony, ID.
Ruby was born on July 18, 1949, in Afton, Wyoming. She was the youngest child of Louis Wayne and Zora Guymon. During her childhood, her family usually lived on a ranch, where she gained a lifelong love of animals. They lived in various places such as Afton Wyoming, Clark Idaho, Arlee Montana, Grant Idaho, and Sugar City Idaho. Ruby graduated from Sugar-Salem High School and LDS seminary in 1967.
While living in Rexburg Idaho in 1972, Ruby met John Jagielski, they formed a friendship. She brought the Gospel of Jesus Christ into his life in a whole new way as he had been raised Catholic. He was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in November of 1972, and they were married shortly thereafter. They welcomed twin boys, Richard and Robert, in 1974 while living in Ohio. They returned to Idaho where Lisa was born in 1977. In 1980 they purchased a home in Burton where they have lived since. Three more boys were born into the family, Nathan in 1980, Stanley in 1984, and David in 1986.
Ruby had many interests throughout her life which included horseback riding, traveling and sightseeing, reading, raising and caring for animals, nurturing children, sewing, crocheting, various crafts, houseplants and gardening.
Ruby was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She had several callings in the church, her favorites were serving in the nursery and in the library. She had a strong testimony and was proud of her pioneer heritage. Ruby had a very kind heart and will be missed by many.
Ruby is survived by her husband John who has been her caregiver for many years through health challenges. Her children Rick (Stephanie) of Los Alamos, NM; Rob (Annette) of Rigby, ID; Lisa (David) Bell of Rexburg, ID; Nate (Nashina) of Idaho Falls, ID; Stan (Savannah) of Rigby, ID; and Dave (Marcy) of Rigby, ID; 22 Grandchildren and 2 Great Grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters Pearl Rawson and Loretta (Dale) Miller.
Ruby was preceded in death by her parents Wayne and Zora Guymon, sisters Yvonne Guymon and Vila Hall, and brother Louis Guymon.
The family invites all who have known Ruby to join them in celebrating her life. A viewing will be held on Thursday December 19th from 5:30 to 7:00pm at Flamm Funeral Home (61 N 1st E in Rexburg). A funeral service will be held in her honor on Friday December 20, 2024 at 11:00am at the Burton west chapel (3958 W 2000 S in Rexburg) with a viewing prior to the service from 10:00 to 10:45am.
We would like to extend special thanks to all her friends and neighbors who have shown their love and support throughout the years. We would also like to thank the many caregivers at Homestead Assisted Living in St. Anthony for their incredible care and attention to Ruby in the final weeks of her life, specifically Tiffany who so lovingly helped her to make a peaceful transition into the next life.
