It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dyer Ross Stockton on December 20, 2024, at the age of 85. Dyer passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Dyer will be deeply missed and forever treasured for his humor, generosity, and kindness with everyone he met. The impact left by Dyer will forever leave a lasting memory on everyone who loved him. He filled this world with love and light.

Dyer was born on January 1, 1939, in Okanogan, WA. Dyer was the beloved son of Gretchen and Elwood Stockton and grew up in Twisp, WA. He was elected the student body president of Twisp High School and graduated in the class of ’57. After high school, Dyer served in the United States Air Force from 1958 to 1961. Initially, Dyer was sent to Monterrey CA. where he studied Russian for several months but then the Air Force changed his assignment to telecommunications and sent him to Korea instead. While there he served as a telephone lineman. Due to his mother’s death, Dyer was honorably discharged from the Air Force and returned home to his family in Fairfield, ID. Dyer was very proud of his military service and wore his veteran’s hat and flew the flag proudly at his home for all to see.

Dyer applied his telecommunications skills to working for Mountain Bell Telephone Company and enjoyed a 20-year career there. He then spent many years at the Idaho National Laboratory where he worked in telecommunications as well.

On June 30, 1962, he married the love of his life, Fern Holverson Stockton. They shared 62 beautiful years together here on earth. In March 1973, Dyer and Fern took their children to the Idaho Falls Temple where they were sealed together for time and all eternity.

Dyer had many passions including his love for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He remained an active member throughout his life. He and Fern served a mission from 2005-2007 in the Texas, Dallas Mission.

Dyer had a deep love for music. Throughout his life, he played the guitar, sang, and performed karaoke whenever he found the opportunity to.

He also enjoyed bowling, fishing, hunting, golfing, and reading.

Dyer is survived by a large and loving family. His beloved wife, Fern Holverson Stockton: his daughters: Gretchen Stockton Uehling (Jerry) and Jessica Stockton Prestwich (Bryen); along with them, he also has Jeanne Isom (Mark) and family, whom he has adopted as his own; 15 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son, Dyer Stockton Jr.; his parents Elwood and Gretchen Stockton; his brothers: Gary Stockton and Randal Stockton; and his parents’ in-law, Jerry (Jiggs) and Florence Holverson.
