Four years after a Secret Santa gave her family a car, mother of 8 shares an emotional update
Published atRIGBY — Carissa and Randy Heaps were at their Rigby home on a cold afternoon in 2020 when the East Idaho News team knocked on their door. We were there to drop off some gifts from a Secret Santa.
A few minutes later, the news elves told the Heaps one of the gifts was in the car outside. Turns out, the gift WAS the car and it was for the Heaps.

Carissa broke down crying. Randy’s reaction was more muted – one of the characteristics of early-onset dementia. He had recently been diagnosed and the family was facing a new reality.
Their surprise has been viewed over 1.4 million times on YouTube since December 2020. Now, four years later, Carissa is giving an update on their situation, including the death of her husband two months ago, and sharing how the vehicle has helped their family.
