According to a news release from the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to a home on Rattlesnake Road around 8:30 p.m. Monday for a report of a 49-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the upper chest.
When they arrived, they met with the reporting party, who said she was in a fight with her husband when she shot him.
The woman reportedly said the man had been threatening to kill her throughout the day, and during an argument, she tried to call 911, but her husband took the phone and allegedly began choking her.
She told deputies the two continued to fight and she eventually retrieved a handgun and shot him.
Idaho Falls Ambulance transported the man to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center where he is currently being treated for his injuries. Deputies are continuing to gather evidence and investigate, and the names of the people involved have not been released. Nobody has been arrested in connection to the shooting.
