Natalie Tisdale Bergholz, 79, of Idaho Falls, passed away on January 2, 2025.

She was born into the family of the Reverend Canon Thomas Tisdale and Rebecca Roberts Tisdale on August 12, 1945. She grew up through some tumultuous times in Orangeburg, South Carolina, before attending the University of Virginia.

Returning to Charleston, she married her husband, Warren, and embarked on a life involving moves to Long Beach, California, Denver, Colorado, Laramie, Wyoming, Gaithersburg and Germantown, Maryland, Aiken, South Carolina, and finally for the past 29 years, Idaho Falls. Natalie took on the work of raising their daughter, Rebecca, and later their son Peter, through these various moves. In Aiken, when the children were old enough to find their way home alone, she returned to her chosen career of teaching Pre-K and Kindergarten. All along the way, she was the hostess of many a neighborhood, work, and church gathering and she was invariably the social butterfly bringing people together. She was known by virtually everyone as a caring and warm person, who always had a supportive word to share and helped to care for her extended family and her community. She was frequently willing to pause and remind her family, colleagues, and friends to take time to take care of themselves.

Later, with the kids out of the house and ensconced in Idaho Falls, Natalie and Warren bought a cabin in Island Park and settled into regular visits to their favorite wild places, especially Yellowstone. Before long Natalie discovered that she loved watching the wolves and bears in Yellowstone and sharing their stories with anyone who wanted to look through her scope. She shared her enthusiasm for wildlife stewardship and the drama of nature with her grandchildren, Evan Glasgow, Fiona Bergholz, and Ellen Bergholz, while also passing on the same gift of warmth and emotional intelligence that she gave to her children.

She was also deeply kind to her dogs. For more than 50 years Natalie has had one or more canine companions. They have been the light of her life. They each loved her as much as she loved them. In the end, Maya and Sage were with her and Maya was on the bed keeping her company when she took her last breath. Natalie has gone to be with her precious dogs. In the end, she passed away peacefully and will be terribly missed by her family and friends.

Natalie is survived by her husband, Warren; her brother, Thomas (Nina) Tisdale of Charleston, South Carolina; her children: Rebecca (Jamie) Glasgow of Olympia, Washington, and Peter (Teresa) Bergholz of Okemos, Michigan; and her grandchildren: Evan Glasgow, Fiona Bergholz, and Ellen Bergholz.

The family thanks Enhabit Home Health & Hospice and Fairwinds Sand Creek Assisted Living for the loving care given to Natalie through her final days.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Snake River Animal Shelter online at www.snakeriveranimalshelter.org/make-a-donation.

The family will host a small remembrance gathering locally and in South Carolina at a later date. Cremation was under the direction of Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street, Idaho Falls. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.coltrinmortuary.com.
