Louis Horton Merrill
September 12th, 1934 - January 31st, 2025
Louis Horton Merrill, 90, passed peacefully at home on Friday, January 31, 2025. He was born September 12, 1934, to Nathan and Mamie Merrill of Annis Idaho.
Louis graduated from Rigby High School, and joined and served in the National Guard for 8 years.
He returned from the Great Lakes Mission and married Karen Stucki January 16, 1959, and spent 65 years together before her passing February 4, 2024.
Louis was a life-long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in many church callings. He spent a lifetime creating a life he loved that included farming, ranching, and livestock feeding. Louis and Karen’s posterity includes 6 children, 25 grandchildren, and 34 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife Karen, parents Nathan and Mamie Merrill, brothers Wayne, Clayton, Reed, Ross, and sister Phyllis Johnson, and grandchildren Heidi, Ginger, and Nathan Merrill, and great-granddaughter Ashlynn Merrill.
Louis is survived by his sons, Ryan (Delma) of Rigby, Douglas (Debra) of Idaho Falls, Curtis (Paula) of Hagerman, ID, Bruce (Martha) of Mapleton, UT, Ken (Jen) of Meridian, and daughter Bonnie (Brian) of Grantsville, UT.
The family would like to thank those who worked with Louis, and for the tender care from Dr. Weatherly, Dr. Chambers, and Eden Home Health.
In the spirit of Louis’ life, in lieu of flowers, the family suggests offering a gift of kindness and support to someone in need.
Funeral Services will be held at the Labelle Church 4223 E 528 N Rigby, Idaho 83442, on Friday February 7, 2025, at 11:00 am. The family will meet with friends and family from 6 to 7:30 pm on Thursday, February 6, 2025, and 9:30-10:45 am prior to the funeral at the Labelle Church. Burial will be in the Annis Little Butte Cemetery.
